Jacking the front end..
Did a search but can't seem to find any consensus here.
I want to do an oil change and I have a couple jackstands and a floor jack. Where can I jack the car up from a single point on the front end and where should I put the jackstands at?
Pictures would be helpful..

I looked at this link but it doesn't show a single point to jack the front end up from.
Why the hell is this subject (how to properly jack up the car and support it) such a PITA?

I did this recently. Behind each wheel, there is a "cutout" (for lack of a better term) that is meant for the jack. I actually put my jack just a few inches behind that (meaning towards the back of the car, but still on the frame) and jacked it up, the positioned the jack stand in the "cutout" behind the wheel. Slid the jack out, moved to the other side, and repeated the process.
Worked like a charm. I'll see if I can find some pictures.

OK so you guys don't really recommend doing the front from a single point then. If it's not that tough I have no problem taking an extra 5 mins. to do it one side at a time.
Assuming I use the cutouts along the side behind the wheels to lift from how should I position the floor jack? They have a tendency to move a bit as you lift so that's a concern. Should it be parallel with the car or facing it?

I tried to get a picture of it, but was unable to (Thanks for the excuse to go to the garage and visit the car, though!)
The spot I'm referring to is located almost directly under the crease between the front fender and the door. Its U-shaped. I jacked up to the right of that, then put the jackstand in this U-shaped spot.

Thanks guys. I guess if the jack itself rolls under the car a little that's no big deal. I just don't want the cup to slide out from underneath and have the car come crashing down. Do I need to use any wood here or is it OK to have the cup touch that pinch weld point directly?
As for where to put the jack stands a picture would be nice but I might be able to figure that out on my own. I would assume right under the axle as far out towards the wheel as you can get?
