05 GT 5 speed Idle Problem
Hi everone, I just got an 05 GT with a 5 speed tranny. about 2 weeks ago. Right after I got the car the check engine light came on, so went to a friend that works for Advance Auto Parts and had him check what the code was and it said "Idel air low rpm". Also when the light came on i noticed the gas peddel seemed to not be as responsive as when the light was not on. Car still runs good but idel is searching between 450 and 850. Can anybodygive me a place to start checking. Thanks very much.

Did you buy the car from a dealership or private owner? Is it stock or does it have any mods?
It could be a number of things but the first thing you might check is the MAF then possibly the throttle.
I ask if it was a dealer or private owner purchase because I wonder if it might have had a tune or CAI on it at one time. Might have been put back to stock improperly (loose connection, ETC.)

Do you have any warranty from the dealer?
It sounds like it could be the Mass Air sensor or the Throttle Position Sensor. The throttle sensors have a bad habit of going out. The Mass Air sensors can get dirty and not read correctly. Not really sure but I'd lean towards the throttle given the idle issue.....just a guess.
I'd run it by the dealer or a good shop if you don't have much experience on these. The MAf sensor isn't that big of a deal but the Throttle sensor could be a little hard to trouble shoot.

No...bought it as is, but think they might help. I had read about taking off the throttle body and cleaning it but not sure. I always do my own work when ever I can but to tell you the truth....and dont laugh....i have always messed with chevy stuff. And as of so far, i am very glad i got the mustang over the camaro. lol

Well neither item is that big of a deal. The TPS sensor is maybe 50.00 bucks???? It's mounted to the side of the throttle.
You can pull the intake and check to see if the throttle needs cleaning as a first step.
Hey why would I laugh? My grandfather sold Chevy for 35 years!LOL

Yeah, they'll try to sell it as a unit if they can. I had to replace mine after my old throttle got knocked off the work bench one day. You can order them as a separate time....I think it was Moss mustang?? I can check if you want?
Or maybe some one else knows where you can get one.
