tire/wheel size - 9" wheel, largest tire?
#3
Different tire manufactures have different tire/rim specs. Personally, I wouldn't go over a 275 on a 9" wheel. And, 285-305 is absolutely out of the question for an 8.5'- 9.0" wheel .While slightly against the rules, many guys here are running the 275 with no problems at all. I currently have 255/45/18 on 9" in front and 285/40/18 on 10.5 " in rear.

Haven't I seen this question already?
Anyway, it depends on what you're really after.
Primarily for appearance, 275/40.
Hardcore cornering response, 255/45 or maybe only 245/45.
There isn't much else.

dont wanna jack the thread but argo do you run 275s all around for your track days? i've been looking to upgrade my rims/tires and i'm not sure if i want to run 275s all around or stagger with 245s up in the front (its only a v6... the 275s might slow me down haha).
back on topic though... i think the safest way to find out if a tire can work is to visit the tire manufacturer's website and get their specs. According to falken and nitto 275/40s can fit on a 9 inch rim (min. width suggested). BTW, this overall diameter of the tire is SMALLER than the stock 235/55 R17s and can throw off the speedo - I'm not sure about widths for tires with taller sidewalls
