Question New Mirror - Removal

Guy's; can anyone tell me how to remove the factory rearview mirror. I know that there is supposed to be a spring that you access from the bottom but I can't find it.

Carefully insert a screwdriver in the notch on the bottom and apply pressure up and out a little and it will come off

Thanks, I guess I just needed to play with it for a while. I have finally gotten it off and I am now installing the new AutoDimming; Temp; Compass; Homelink mirror.

My setup was different. I had to use two jeweler size flat tips and pry in the sides, and it came out really easy. I didn't have the notch like in the pic.. I guess Ford made different types or something because I looked online to find how to take it off and everyone talked about the notch lol.. good luck

I just took mine off. I put a little bit of WD-40 to help loosen it. Then I put a small screwdriver through the bottom opening of the mirror base. It should go in about 3/4". Then gently push the screwdriver up and pull towards you while at the same time pushing the mirror up and wiggling it side to side. It will come off then. Do this at your own risk though.

Where did you get this mirror and what did you pay?

That's where I got mine from ( LKQ ) . It's a gentex had the autodim compass and temperature.
I had to buy the temp probe separately. there's a write up on how to do it. it's easy to do..

I have that sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. Not the gentex version, but the actual one from the Ford Accessories website. I don't seem to have the patience to install something like that so I may get someone else to do it, but I would definately like to see if someone has a write up on this...

I purchased it the same time I got the Smart Alert system.
