Default Which Should I get?

I called newtakeoff today and I can get the 8.8 rear w/ 3.73s for $770 plus $130 for shipping. So $900 and then I would have to install it myself. The guy on the phone was really trying to sell it to me and said it would be $950 if I waited until tomorrow...lol.

My other option is Eibach Pro-kit, Tokico D-specs, BMR Adj. Panhard, and Steeda Strut Mounts plus the cost of installation.

Which should I get and why? If you choose 8.8, do you think the price is fair?

Why do you need an 8.8?

It's stronger than the 7.5
It has a T-lock
I want the 3.73 gears

...that about sums it up.

You can get 3:73's for the 7.5 too. Heck I have seen some fast cars with the 7.5's still in them! That price seems a little high to me, the 8.8 we put in my buddies Terminator only cost him $300.

if ur willing to do the 8.8 install ur self you sure as hell can to springs, shocks, strut mounts and panhard bar. ur already unbolting or removing majority of the stuff anyways if ur taking out the rear end (springs, rear shocks and panhard bar).

just my opinion, but id take that into consideration, just devote a day to it and save the couple hundred dollars u save on install for the 8.8 later on down the road....

I would go with "the other option" because the car's rear axle is more than sufficient for your current set up...as Johnny said, you can get 3.73's for the 7.5 and be just fine.

Listen to someone who has DONE IT... I'm SO happy I got the 8.8" and have NO WHINING gears! You take a lot of risk trying to install gears (ask Saddleup).. it can turn into a HUGE headache. Avoid that and get a better/stronger axle instead of changing gears & adding T-loc to the stock axle.

That price is good - BUY IT NOW! You'll absolutely LOVE the acceleration of the 3.73!

^^I like how this man thinks.

Yes I think I'll devote an entire day to installing the 8.8

I plan to have more power some day so I might as well be ready for it with the 8.8

speaking from personal experience b/c I wanted to get the 8.8 for the T-lok, but I decided to just buy the T-lok and have the stealership install it. I regret this because it ended up costing close to the price that the whole rear end from newtakeoff would have, and I dont get the bonuses of the 8.8 (stronger, ABS if i wanted, and T-lok). So imo get the 8.8 if you want atleast a limited slip ntm 8.8 would be able to withstand any power adders better.

The thing is...

3.73 gears for the V6 are $270

T-lock $200

Installation $200-250

So I could get the gears I want for $700ish or get the 8.8 with gears for $900
