An active speaker to RCA adapter does not.
Here is what you need for a distortion free install:

No more adapters needed.

For the hijacker, open up the LOC and see what the values
are for the speaker load resistors. Select a different value
to increase the low level RCA output of the LOC. Or get a
higher quality LOC or an active LOC FTW.
Thanks! I'll have to crack it open sometime when I'm bored. That CleanSweep device seems like a great idea if you don't mind spending the cash. I think personally I'll put that 300 in the avic-z2 or equiv. rainy day fund!

I did this on my G35 that had a bose system already in it. Mine had a line out converter and a signal amplifier. It was a long time ago so im not totally sure exactly what was done. I had it going to my arc audio amp to one 15in subwoofer

Best bet would be line out converter into one of the lines that go to your rear speakers. Plug the output (RCA) into your amp and run that to your subwoofers. Seems like the best way to me to do it. Im just glad mine came with the shaker 1000 it was so easy to install

I have the Shaker 500 with 2 JL 12's. I'm not running the stock head unit though. If you decide to get an aftermarket head unit and need help, shoot me a PM

Hey, OP this is how I hooked my subs up on my 500. I ran the line out converter from the HU side of the door speaker subs. The amp is located under the dash on the drivers side for the door subs. Then run RCA to your trunk sub amp.

Pretty sure I'm going to do the same. With the money you'd spend on the converter and signal tender might as well get a good looking HU.

Does "signal amplifier" mean just a plain old amplifier, or was there something between the LOC and the sub amp to boost the signal further? If the latter, do you remember what brand/make this device was?

Thanks.
