...I contacted the apartment complex, they said it wasnt their problem and gave me the number to the contractor in charge.. He has been extremely cooperative and told me of another incident of shingle damage... The car is going in monday for an estimate, as of now he says he will take care of it all... We will see.....
I would ask the apartment complex for a copy of the contractor's license and insurance and/or bond. If anything, the permit should have that information on it. They did get a permit to do the work, right???
The complex should not have a problem providing that information unless they hired a non-license group of people to do the work. If the complex negligenlty hired a non-licensed and/or insured or bonded contractor, well, I would think the complex would absorb the liability if the contractor fails to come through for you.
Not sure about your area, but in Florida the complex could get into deep crap for hiring non-licensed people to work on a commercial project (apartments are treated as commercial in Florida).
Good luck. I hope one of the two parties comes through for you.
