Default Need help deciding on which CAI to purchase

I really don't mean to beat a dead horse but I was just looking for some help understanding the differences between a couple of products.

Browsing at Brenspeed they sell 2 C&L kits. A street package and a racer package. The more expensive of the two (Street) has a smaller MAF housing but does have an aluminum inlet tube. The Racer kit has a larger MAF housing but a plastic inlet tube and costs around $50 less.

Then there is another reputable vendor that sells a combo kit. Parts of the street kit combined with parts of the racer kit for a price almost equal to the street kit from Brenspeed.

I'm not concerned about price, or looking to save a couple bucks by picking any 1 kit over the other, I just want to know the differences between the 3 kits and what benefits each one has over the other. I don't race my car and I have no intentions of ever making it a race car. It's my daily driver and I just broke the 40k mile mark. I just want some more fun from it like I had when I brought it home.

I have an 06 GT with no performance mods unless you consider Corsa exhaust performance

Thanks for any help yall.

The Racer would have benefits IF you were aspirated. Otherwise, it doesn't provide any additional performance. There's some that feel the metal tube holds more heat than the plastic and has some detriment to the cold air believers but IMO, it's negligible.

I'd recommend Brenspeed or Bama as your vendor, regardless of what combo you buy, as their tunes are top notch. So is there customer support.

Call Brenspeed and ask them. They are extremely helpful and friendly. You can tell them all your plans for the car and they will tell you what's the best way to go. Trust me, I have talked to them several times about my change in plans and they have always pointed my hubby and I in the right direction.

If you're open to suggestions for other intakes other than C&L I would recommend the JLT intake. It is probably the most affordable intake out there. It has a large MAF housing and makes power about equal to the C&L intakes. The inlet tube is plastic (painted gloss black) but some vendors offer it painted to match your body color for only a few more bucks. However I believe Brenspeed does not offer the paint option.

The best bang for buck is JLT kit from Bama.

I'd actually go with JLT if i could "do-over". CAI is a CAI is a CAI when it comes down to it.

The plastic is cheaper and will heat soak less, but the aluminum C&L has a nitrous boss if you're ever tempted.

MAF size.. my C&L has a 95mm but will need to be removed to install any kind of forced induction so thats a moot point... unless it's a Saleen-style that can utilize stock-type intakes.

Sweet, Bama offers the color matched JLT intake and in doing so saves me around $75. What to do with that extra money?!

Thanks for all the input!

I vote C&L Racer. The size difference may only give a negligible performance increase, but it's cheaper. Plus I think it looks better on our motors too.

In all reality, whichever intake you buy will be fine. The tune is much more important than the intake.
