Angry gear install...

So, I got my 4.10s in and had them put in today. just drove home and I notice at a little pull low rpm, say 4th gear at 40ish, if I let the engine do the breaking, it sounds like i am getting some gear whine. I dont hear anything under acceleration. My question is, do they need some break in time and the sound may go away, or did they hose my install and I should call them first thing in the AM? I plan on driving it 15 miles on the highway, letting it sit for a few hours, and doing it again all tonight, just wondering so I can see what you all think when I get back.

Did you buy Ford Racing brand gears?

My 3.73's are FRPP and I have a little whine. Is your whine at certain speeds or constant? For me it's only at 35-45 mph and has quieted down a great deal since I got them installed. I say put some miles on it, 300-500 is what my shop told me.

To be on the safe side, I would call the installer and let them know. That way, they cannot claim poor break in practice for the whine.....

Did they add friction modifier when installed?

Mine have been totally silent since I picked her up from install......

Call the shop and let them know!! They will probably tell you they need to break in so do that and if it still continues take them back and get some new ones!!

Where'd you buy the gears at? Whats the part number could tell if you bought the FRPP or the Motive.
