Default tpms

I'm getting new rims on my '07,I used the search, some say ''put the TPMS in the spare tire and inflate'' but can anyone CONFIRM this actually works, cause if it does work that is what i will be doing, I don't want six inches of weight strips inside my new rims like the OEM wheels, looks like SH?%$?%/&.

Thanks

I have heard it does not work. I have a friend who is a car/computer junkie and he was able to fix his Dad's 08 v6 mustang when he got new wheels. He would not explain the details but he got it to where he has no tpm light or warning and its been almost a year with his new wheels. I know for sure he does not have the sensors. It won't take long before the word is out on how to shut it off.

putting them in the spare or doing the pvc pipe thing does not work.not only do the sensors read air pressure but they sense motion.i tried doing both tricks to fool the tpms and i still got a light.

Some other have said that they did not put the sensors in and after driving the TPM light stayed off and has yet returned. If it can be controlled by a computer its can be controlled by the user, there is a way. I will try and find out more.

I'm not buying the motion sensing argument - you got a link to where you read that? I fired up my 07 yesterday after it had been sitting motionless for over a month (in storage/on a battery tender). No TPMS warning. If the PVC pipe and/or spare tire didn't work I don't think it had anything to do with motion sensing.

maybe they didnt think to retrain the sensors, after installing in the trunk.... I mean the signal will be different and unless you reprogram you would get a error. the point is you only reprogram once and put them away forever.

I guess results vary. I had the temporary spare on the right rear, and the regular tire in the trunk, with a nail or screw in it, but it was at about 30 psi. I never got the TPMS light, and obviously the tire in the trunk was not moving.
