I've read it on All Data before. They go into a sleep mode after so long of no movement to save the battery life, and need to be woken up by driving.
You car simply had not ran the check.
Let the air out of a tire after the car has sat for a month(actually could be 1 day or less) , then start it up, I bet you wont get a low tire light right away.

Why would the signal be different just because you moved them into the trunk? You would only need to reprogram new sensors, or ones swapped from another car.

As far as Art's issue, I am thinking the tire in the trunks tpm had not gone into a sleep mode so it was still seen with 30psi? Just a guess.
