Top Speed for the 05 GT
Guys/gals,
What's your top speed in the 05 GT??
The reason I ask is I intend to take it to top speed this saturday and wanted an idea of what I might get up to....I have heard 143mph.....this is not something I want to try all the time but for the hell of it I at least wanted to get it to top speed just the once!
Is there a limiter on the engine to stop at a certain speed?
On a separate subject I was going around 110mph the other day on a motorway/highway and I swear this dude just went past me like I was doing 50mph or something - he was in a BMW (which I hate!)!

HEHE, I got 150+ on a daily basis in my 05 GT. I live in Germany so the Autobahn is what I use to get around. The speedometer shows 145 but it shows 250KPH and it does it with ease.
I have SCT Tuning so I don't know if that removed a govenor.

I have had my needle buried and continued to clime in speed..so I'm unsure of what the actual speed was...but I can tell yuou that at 6000 rpm in 4th gear I'm doing 137
Have hit 103 in 3rd gear before the rev limiter as well.

I've had the GT over 130 mph but I shut her down when I saw the hood flexing badly. I'll have hood pins installed before I try pushing her too hard again.

The hood flaps above 100mph i've noticed.
I've had my speedo WAY over 140mph (it was off the clock a LOT) so i'm unsure what they're limited to. This weekend i'll try again with a satelite connected and see what speed that gives me.
Nick stay away from kent this weekend

stock, the cars are limited to 140ish b/c of the speed rating on the tires.
i've hit 120mph a few times, but the hood flex thing is just too scary.
on the hood flex issue, i remember reading somewhere it's because air gets trapped under the hood and has no place to go. if this is true, maybe removing the black plastic trim by the windshield washer posts at the bottom of the windshield would create some airflow. the guys that run the cramer engine Grand Am Cup Racing Series Mustangs appear to have stock hoods and presumably they don't have flex issues (they have 4 hood pins across the front, though). i'd like to find a solution that doesn't involve a new hood or drilling holes in my hood.
