Default shift light?

do our cars require an adaptor to get a shift light to work?

i would like to know also. ford put the tach on the wrong side of the dash IMO. my left arm on the top of the steering wheel hides the tach from site while i shift gears. they fixed that on the 2010 and put the tach on the right side of the dash.

No adptor needed . Go here http://www.raptorperformance.com/index.html

three wires 1 for ground.1 for coil pickup connecting to the of the COP's and the other to a 12 v source. Write up explains the install clearly. Can mount anywhere A piller ,dash etc,. set acouple switches and your done.

i guess what im asking here... is autometer the only ones that need the adaptor to work? i really dont want to spend $100 on a shift light. if i buy a cheaper one, will i need an adaptor?
