Default Can side airbags be retrofitted in cars that did not originally have them?

And will the 05 and 06 accept them or does a new computer need to be installed?

I'm looking for a used Stang but the wife wants the side airbags and heated seats. This severly limits our selection so i was wondering....

I think my 08 has both heated seats and side air bags. Get one of those.

Lol, maybe because he and his wife think safety is important...

I think I remember reading about some people who had this done at the dealership, but I don't know if it can be done by at home.

Seriously man? No one cares... The guy is looking for a car for his wife, she wants them in the car. Your not contributing at all to this thread.

So it would be the driver's fault of car A if someone in car B did something stupid like run a red light smashing into car A's side? Or if car B hit a patch of ice and slid...

Right...

former paramedic speaking here..
side airbags do help but really the cost of retrofitting them.. you would be much safer to just add a roll cage...
you can never be able to always interpert what person b will do but that being said,
there are 2 types of wrecks: the ones you walk away from, or the ones your FUBAR or wish you were dead.. front seat side airbags wont make much of a difference... really

ps if driver b slid... driver a should have seen it coming and made accomidations and left an out for his movements

i quote "It is the job of a proffesional driver to make up for the inadequacies of the other drivers on the road" (straight from the NAPD handbook)
