Default Engine Tick Alternator

I started my car before and at idle i heard a tick noise and then a noise that sounded like a quick burst of air. The tick noise kept happening about every 15-13 seconds, and when i followed the sound it looks like the alternator is spinning then stopping.

When it starts spinning its a loud tick and the rpms go up a little.
When it stops spinning its a lower sounding tick.

What do you think is wrong with it?

Are you sure your not talking about your A/C Compressor? I believe it turns on and off like that when you are using defrost so that it can lube the seals and compressor and dehumidify the air in the winter (when defrost is usually needed).

Maybe it is the AC compressor, that makes sense, hopefully i left the defroster on and didnt realize it. I am going to have to go check that. Thanks
