Default Two Audio Questions.

1) Anyone installed a single din headunit in their s197? ive only seen people putting in double din touch screens so im kinda thinking it may look funny, but i already have a decent one in my accord i could "borrow".

2) The shaker 500 doors have a 6x8 and a 8 inch sub right?
I have the factory doors but ive bought some 6x8s already, and kinda want to put two subs in the doors plus one in the trunk, just not sure what i could fit in the doors. Anyone know the deminsions of the hole for the sub?

Im thinking a 12" kicker in the trunk, 2 8"s in the doors plus my 6x8s in the doors and rear, tweeters in the doors, and a new headunit will sound great. Plus dynamat or something.

I've got a single din in mine which was borrowed from my previous car. I'd like a double din one day, but I'd rather spend the money on performance mods.

As for the single din, I think it looks fine. It'll be a while before I can post any pictures.

The 8's in the doors are pretty shallow, that's all I know for sure.

go to my cardomain and you can see my pics of a single din and what I did in my doors, and I the the 5x7 fit the doors but I put 5 1/4 components in my doors.

if i remember right, the oem subs used in the doors are specially designed to fit, and, unless you do some modification to the new sub or the housing in the door, i don't think an aftermarket sub will fit.

Ok I gotta say this b/c it annoys me every time I see this on forums.

The speakers in the lower door with the Shaker 500 IS NOT A SUB! It's just a plain woofer (if you can even call it that!). Just a general speaker. Only the shaker 1000 has SUBS and there's two of them in the trunk.

Subwoofers are big and deep and there's no way you could classify that door speaker as a sub. It doesn't have the freq response and power handling a REAL "sub" has.

The 8"s in the doors are woofer. There are a few that will fit without any modifications.
These should fit with no issues.

woofer, sub woofer... either way its 8 inches. I feel ya though. Im thinking about taking the shaker doors and putting in the kicker 8" for some mid/low bass, and then removing my rear seats or a trunk install of 1-2 kicker 12s for the lows. Not sure if i want to remove my seats. It would probably look sick if done right, but kinda not practical.
