I guess what I was getting at was that a lot of people's response to this topic might be "Dude, you have a V8, not some lawnmower sounding, rice burning Honda! You can't expect the thing to rev like a tiny little 4 banger. Get used to it!"

I'm paraphrasing of course

A tune should be able to do this, since the throttle plates are under the control of the PCM. They just need to get a more aggressive closing, just like it's possible to get a more aggressive move to WOT.

My guess is emissions (lean misfire HC spike), and that the dragstrip and stoplight racers don't need or want it anyway. So there hasn't been enough demand to justify anybody putting any time into developing this.

Seems like the car still has a external IAC, maybe ill pop it out and check if I can make a custom gasket like I did for my 2v. I really miss having that thing, It makes the exhaust more throaty..... and Sounds more hotrod if you know what I mean... Something I think the S197 is missing.

i did a llittle searching, and member Norm Peterson is mostly right. computer tuning has the capability to do this, but due to the lack of interest from people, it is not something that is programmed into the tune.

also, a tune will make it better, but not completely. to get it to a desireable setting, you would need a custom tune allong with udp's and a lightweight flywheel.

Nope, no external IAC on the S197.
Its a different ballgame with the new S197s.
Unless you can Spanish the Oak, Ford has the rev down tied up for
govt mandated emission standards purposes.

I fail to see how UDP's would make it rev down faster. Wouldn't they make it rev down slower because there is less drag on the engine?

Uh................... My driveshaft is disconnected from the engine
when I want it to rev down so how does a lightweight driveshaft
help with the RPM drop lag time?

Nope, the moving mass of the accessories being driven with the UDPs
is now spinning slower with the UDPs and it takes less time for them to
slow down. Its a stored energy thing. There might be less drag with UDPs
but they are also spinning slower. It has little effect as the PCM is keeping
the RPMs up and as the load changes, so does the PCMs stratagy for
keeping the RPMs up and the tailpipe emissions low.

udp will rev up quicker, not down slower
CMDP will allow a faster down if its tuned properly and the motor is warm
