Under hard load at high rpms its going to rattle, doesn't mean there is anything wrong w/ it.

Allow me to assure you this is not the case. I can run it out to red line with the pedal on the floor and never hear a thing from it. Just a little lube to cushion the socket and it's silent as the stocker.

At 5000+ rpms even my stock one rattled or vibrated to some extent. Same goes w/ past aftermarket shifters I have put in other cars. When you replace flexible metal and mushy rubber w/ a more rigid metal design and a firmer urethane bushing its going to transmit more vibration and more road noise. Now I'm sure some shifters like mgw have found ways to isolate that, all I'm saying is that w/ the design of the Hurst its just going to be a factor. I knew this going into my purchase and I am fine w/ it since around town and cruising on the highway the shifter makes no more noise then stock, it's only at high rpms when I'm beating on it that the noise arises.

after lookin into it, i guess break-free is more of a liquid. would regular gun lubricant work? is break-free special?
