Default Question about KDWs and Back Up Camera!

Is there any major differences between the KDW and the KDW IIs?

Those of you with back-up cameras, where did you mount them? Do you like it? How was the install?

I'll be having it hooked up with a Pioneer avh-p4000. Also, those of you that had rear cameras or screens installed at a shop, how much did it run you? Thanks.

I borrowed the idea from TacoBill and others and mounted my camera where the keylock hole is. I love it and it works great there.

Covered in a post here:
https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...s.html#3556873

I did the install myself and am using it with an Avic-D3 with bluetooth and sirius...

Good luck.

i know this sounds stupid, but could i have a backup camera installed in my front? my chin spoiler is at level with curbs and the cement blocks in stalls... and i have to keep a bottle of touchup paint in my stang... normally i try to park in the back and usually park away from the cement stopper, but just sometimes the stall is just to short and i need to get as close as possible.

Sup Ali . I had the KDW II's. Like them a lot, but not as much as the current Nitto DR's. I know you're unhappy with the KDW's. Personally, if I wasn't running a DR in the rear I would give a serious look at the Nitto NT05. They are softer compound tire (200 tread wear) that should last a pretty good while while providing excellent traction. They also have a 295/35 size . http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent05

I think the major diff between the KDW and KDW II is a slightly different rubber compound and the tread pattern is majorly different:

Hey bro, i was unhappy with the BFGoodrich Comp T/As. I just had KDWs put on this morning and they are 10000000000x better. I was just asking that b/c the guy i bought them from said they were KDW II's and i got the KDWs. I could care less, as they perform hell of a lot better than the comp t/as.

I wish i could afford 305 DRs, those bitches hooook.

ooohhhh, I misunderstood you that night you told me you had BFG's. I thought you had the KDW I's! yeahhh man, the KDW's are much better than the comp t/a's.

I'm loving the new Nitto NT05's though. I'm burning through these Nitto DR's pretty fast on the street. I may pick up another set of steeda rims and mount the NT05's in 295/35 for the street. not sure I want to be spending $600 a year on rear tires. wtf though.. gotta pay to play right?

The KDW tread is more of an all season tire as the
KDW2 tread is more of a high performance summer tire.
I got 255/45-18 KDWs but they came with KDW2 tread.
Some say that the KDW2s howl at speed but I cant hear
them over my exhaust.
Do a google search for the difference between KDWs and KDW2s.

Rear camera mounting idea

Gotcha.

Went to frys today and they quoted me $80 to install the pioneer + parts. And $120 for the back-up camera. He said the total would be around $250! F THAT.

Here is a pic of a forked up circuit city install I had to deal with and fix.
Someone working there must have lots of 3M IDC connector stock.
