Angry Left stranded by my GT - any ideas why?

Right now I'm stranded at work. Stang is in parking lot and did not want to start. Battery's dead now. First time in 3 1/2 years it's let me down

It seems once every month or so (weather NOT a factor) I'll go to start it cold and it will fire, but immediately stumble and die. When this has happened in the past, I'll just keep turning ignition and cranking in bursts and engine might seem to want to just catch on, but won't - almost as if only 1-3 cylinders are interested, but the rest aren't. Then, just as I start to get worried about battery dying it stumbles to life, and within a few seconds is fine. At this point I can smell the exhaust - as if it's too rich. Then it cleans up and runs great. Then a month or so later it will do this again.

It's happened in the dead of winter, middle of summer, anytime of the year.

I don't recall it happening first year I had it though. It did start doing this BEFORE install of CAI/tune, as well as since - with same approx frequency. So I don't think this has anything to do with it

Unfortunately tonight, my battery died before she wanted to start.

Weird. 98% of the time it starts immediately.

Anybody else have this issue? Any ideas?

mmm, i'm guesing it's a 2005 Redfire GT Premium, but that's just a hunch.

first thing I would do is replace the battery, then go from there. I'm actually surprised the stock battery lasted 3.5 years.

Its the battery. I had mine to died at 2 in the morning at a friends house. I would start and when I thought it was good, the engine cut off. I had to have it towed home and bought a new battery the next day. Been good ever since.

The engine would crank over normally for many, many attempts before running out of juice. I don't see how it could be battery.

My theory: It sensed that I was reading a review of the 2010 Mustang GT today (correctly) and in a fit of jealousy decided I was not going home

I just replaced my battery yesterday. I know why mine died, simply lack of use. Have had the car three years and it only has 13,000 miles on it.

My MAF sensor is causing the same #$% right now. Car is fine, and runs on 1 cylider and dies next. Sometime I drive somewhere, turn it off, come back, and it won't start. Disconnect the MAF, and I bet it starts, won't idle though.
