Lots of tape on the corners, a blanket across the engine bay and fender tops.
You'll need to prop that hood in the middle with a 2x4 or something, from latch to striker (do not trust the OEM prop), so it doesn't slip away from you when the hinges are disconnected.
To put it back on is trickier, that's when that blanket comes in handy
I usually put one corner in position by the cawl as you stand by the fender side.
Then walk around to the front of the car while supporting the other corner and the hood will swing around as you move.
The improvised hood prop (that you laid on the radiator support before grabbing the hood) will then hold the hood steady enough when you connect the hinges back.
Hope that helps...

You should fit the hood before it is painted, to make sure that there are no issues. With a fiberglass hood, sometimes you have to sand the edges to get the fit that you need. If you already have it at the body shop to be painted, I guess its a little too late. So tape the edges of the fenders with 3/4" masking tape, use two people to install the hood and be careful when you close it not to hit the edges of the hood or fender. If you have to you can always adjust the fenders to fit the hood.

Screw in the bottom 2 bolts enough so that they don't pop out when playing with the hood, but not so tight that you're not able to adjust the hood placement. When you get the hood just where you want it, and if there's a gap, or it's too close, loosen the bolts that hold the fender in place, and either push in, or pull out the fender. I just got done putting my hood on last week, and had "fun" adjusting it. But definitely put a 2x4 between the hood latch and striker.

i installed my hood and my freinds hood together, just make sure that you have the corners of the hood protected, some protection over the fenders, and thats all i would say. if you have 3 peeps to do it, its very easy, 2 people hold each side, while another runs back and forth to tighten the bolts. dont overtighten to were u may crack the fiberglass though.
