Get rid of all the carpeting and any plastics that aren't needed. Get rid of AC, and power Steering. Get a light weight battery and alternator. Remove all radio equipment, Replace driver seat with a light weight carbon fibre one. Get rid of everything in the trunk. Relace all body panels with carbon fibre peices. Replace the windows with light weight peices. Get an aluminum driveshaft and light weight suspension peices. If you want to do drag racing, do the sway bar delete, run skinnies up front. Don't forget to pull out all the useless speaker wire that was run through the car. Get rid of all the electrical items you don't need, like power windows, locks, and mirrors. Any sound deadening material needs to be removed as well. And you need to go on a diet! Get down to about 120 and you'll be good. :-) I think i've covered everything.

This may seem obvious, but don't forget when you go to the track try to have your gas tank only about 1/4 full or less. All those gallons of gas weigh a lot.

As I recall aviation gas weighs 6# per gallon. Same for car gas I'd think.

Lol when u weighed it you should have done what i did... weigh yourself, then hold the seats and weigh yourself again. Anyways, rear seats weigh 30 pounds, spare and jack together weighed another 35 pounds. The hardware was about 1-3 pounds for the seats.

Can you really lighten the stang up enough without spending both arms and legs to make any kind of difference?

Get a V6 lol, I like that . When you can get 450whp out of a FI V6 why get the heavy old 281?? When I hear people talking about how they want to do a 5.4L iron block engine swap I think the same thing. Get an aluminator? Good for 700+whp and much better weight balance for street/track use. Unless you just want a dragstrip terror....

Did anyone mention the steeda tubular rad support? You can still retain your front swaybar and move (remove) another 20lbs from front to rear. It's really hard to remove substantial weight from these cars w/o making them uncomfortable/unstreetable. You would have to start removing sound deading material, ac, etc to get substantial weight off. Just increase your hp, much easier.
