does anyone have a pic of said clips on the wheels?

It's funny cause i'm having the same problem with steering wheel vibration. Just bought the Black Saleen S style 18's from Cruzin concepts, mounted and balanced and installed them myself. The wheel shook like crazy so i went to TiresPlus and they said the wheels were out of balance so i had them rebalanced them. But guess what...still vibrating...I'm planning on going back up there to have them rebalance...but figured i'd look for the clips first...but don't know what i'm looking for...maybe once i look i'll see em....

They're pretty easy to spot. Little circle clips right around the wheel studs at the base of the mounting.

i'd bet dollars to donuts that you need centering rings - i had the exact same problem. while the clips may be the number cause of wheel shake, they are somewhat hard to miss when changing a tire; on the other hand, if you don't know you need the rings, you'll always miss putting em on. get yourself a set of rings - they're very inexpensive. american muscle might just send you a couple pairs for free...

I thank you guys for the help. I had them remove the retainer clips anyways. However the main problem was that with the steeda ultra lights the whole rim has a slant on the inside and the TPMS sensors in 3 of the wheels came loose and were bouncing all over the place.

Just a FYI for people with Steeda Ultralight's, due to rim design there is a slant on every part of the inside of the rim where you mount the TPMS sensors. The best place me and the tire guy figured out for the TPMS sensor is to mount it as far up as it will go on the rim right under the valve stem.

The way the rim is designed only gets bigger as you go to the right, so the sensor can't go right, and since it's pushed against the valve stem, it won't go any farther left either.

We made sure there was still room to have the tire sealed on there and even pushed against the valve stem we still had clearance.

I had them point out the retainer clips to me, so i would know what they look like. If you take off a wheel, look at the rotor, and look at the 5 bolts coming out of the rotor that the tire sits on, now where the bolts go into the rotor there should be nothing there. If there is something on the end of the bolt where it goes into the rotor this is the retainer clip.

I believe mine had one on each rotor. They just slide down the bolt and push up against the rotor. Once you have the tire off you should notice how like 4 look the same with nothing, but one looks like it has a small washer type'd thing on it. That's the clip, should just slide right off.

Anybody wonder why the stock wheels don't shimmy with those clips on there? It doesn't make sense to me.

I had installed snow tires on a set of GT take off rims and noticed a slight shake in the steering wheel time to time. I wonder if it could be those clips, but if these were off another GT, why would they shake? Maybe the balance is slightly off. It never bothered me too much and they are coming off soon anyways.

LOL OMG!

I just had my 18x9 Saleens/Nitto 555's 255.45.18's put on today! Had to have them balanced twice. WE knew about the clips, they are off and I still have a slight shake. It was bad at first, but Im wondering what the hell! LOL

I cant believe I just saw this post! I was about to post my new shoes!

What kind of balance job did they perform on the wheels/tires?

Did you install TPMS sensors in your new rims?
