All about the tuning... but at some point the rods will fail. You see guys with 500whp on the stock block running strong for a long time with a proper tune.
Hell, I was just reading through the 3V shootout in Feb 08's mm&ff (for the fourth or fifth time lol) and a guy ran a 10.43 at 131 on all stock block/internals. 18.5 lbs of boost ATI procharger.
Then I see another guy running a 200 shot of nitrous on the stock block for over 100 passes before "something" went wrong (bad gas, a/f, etc)
rolling the dice but tough little motors.

Thats why I told JDM to give me a very conservative tune so I don't end up breaking anything. Plus I am going to add the 36K warranty to it as well - just in case
