LOL....definately a 'have to' idea. You can bet your *** I'll be doing it too. So what do you do when you go out to a resturant that valet parks?? My anniversary is in three weeks and my wife was like......"Oh, we can take the Mustang now!!". Then she tells me where I'm taking her and I'm like....'if you think some flunky valet is gonna park this car, your nuts...".

So far, this hasnt gone over too well from her, but I just told her I'll drop her off at the door and then find a spot to put it on my own.

Guys, I did want to say I appreciate the comments on the car. I know we all have our own opinions on what WE think looks good, but even with that, its nice to feel like your 'vision' of something also looks good enough to others that they take the time to congratulate you on how it turns out.

So thank you all.

Car looks awesome Andretti. Now I know what my Vista Blue car will look like minus those stripes. I was even considering the Roush spoiler, it's definitely my favorite. But my employer just laid off 5000 people last week so I decided to put off half my mods. But the wheels and GT500 front end is already here, just waiting on the TF hood.

Kevin is a little more than the price Andretti quoted but I highly suggest to anyone thinking about it, call him and talk to him. Kevin is one of the nicest people you can deal with, friendly and customer service is over the top. Actually now that I think about it, Kevin's price might have been less if you take off tax and shipping.

The quote I got for the shop to do the entire GT500 front end and Venom hood . . . paint everything and install everything, all I'm doing is drop shipping the parts, don't have to do anything myself, was $1200.

Awesome car Andretti!

Hey Joe thanks for asking! Did Trufiber get the new shipment of Venom hoods?

Sorry for hijacking.

The GT500 front end...EVERYTHING (headlights, fogs, bumper, etc) needed to make the conversion was around $1400 delivered ( I got mine through a guy named Steve Powell who works in a Ford dealership parts dept in Minnesota who was recommended to me by another guy here on the site). He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Another person who helps with this conversion is Kevin Casey. He works out of the Ford dealership parts dept in California. I dont know about Steve, since I got my hood another way, but I do know for a fact that not only can steve get you a great deal on parts for the conversion, he can get the hood as well so you could get it all from one place. From what I've seen over the months on this site, Kevin has helped many do the conversion and every time managed to get a very nice fitting and undamaged hood to the purchaser time and time again. Kevin has helped me numerous times since I purchased my stuff to get some other things that I decided I wanted or needed for different car projects and honestly, between Steve and Kevin, you cannot go wronge.

The hood, I got through a buddy on another mustang site. He ended up with two (he sent Trufiber his original Mustang hood to be used as an aid to help them develop the Venom hood as a few others did as well). He received one hood not long after and used it, but got a great offer on his car so he chose to sell it. About six months later, another hood appeared at his doorstep. He intended to keep it, but didnt have a mustang to put it on. When he started having issues with a new home he was building, he decided to sell it, and I just happened to be the guy who inquired about it first. I got it for $900 (at the time, that is the cost that Phil at Trufiber said anyone buying one would pay with shipping).

Paint for the front end, blending fenders, prep on hood and paint, and then striping the entire car with a clearcoat over the stripes was $2390.

I spred it out over almost 5 months since I knew I was parking the car over the winter anyway. I got the hood right before thanksgiving last year, all the GT500 conversion parts maybe a week or so into November, but obviously the painter just got done two days ago. Of course, the question is have the prices gone up since then. I'd just call Keven or Steve and see what you can find out.

Well... sure seems like alot of money but when I see cars like yours, Cutter's, MelloYellow, Pascal... etc, sure seems like it might be worth it to me. Maybe next winter, of corse I would have to sell the hood Im having installed as I type this with my GT front end to help barter some of the cost. Again... car looks sweet!

Andretti that looks fantastic. That is definitely the best looking front end for the s197. I'm waiting till I have a front end crash to get mine.

Is it a direct bolt-on or is there more to it than that?

Its a total bolt on...so easy its almost elemental. If there is any 'hard part', it would be wiring the new fogs into place which you only have to extend one of the two lines (but change out both plugs), and then trim both inner fender liners if you want to save cash like I did by modifying your stock GT ones to fit. The front end is held on by no kidding, 6 bolts. Two on top and then two on each side down where the bumper meets the fender edge. Oh, the only other thing needed to do is to take the turn signal bracket off of the stock GT front end and then pop rivet it on to the GT500 one. That really is about it. Check out mellows thread, if I remember right, he has a pretty much a step by step explaination. I had found a 'how to" guide on another site before mellow even did his that explained it so that was the one I initially went off of. But I took it off and on so many times I pretty much knew how to do it by heart by the time the parts were painted and I put them on at his shop. It is definately something that you can do with a minimum of effort and tools.

Of course, there are a ton of guys here on this site who could give a ton of advice given a chance too, so you would be far from being in the dark over every step.

Andretti
