My 2005 Shaker 500 head unit is a little flaky. Someone local has a 2007 version for sale. Can I just plug and play? Are the connections the same? I know the 2007 car has an aux plug, and the 2005 doesnt, so I wanted to make sure.
Maybe a better question, will I be able to use the AUX port on the 2007 stereo? Will I just have to plug in a mini stereo plug in the back and run it to the glove box, for example?
Don't mean to steal your thread but I have a question along the same lines. Are the 500 and 1000 head units interchangable? My 1000 is crapping out and the 500's are much easier to find.
I emailed the seller today, he doesnt think there is an aux out (mini stereo) plug on the back of the head unit.
Its a proprietary connector for the AUX and you will need the
OEM Ford harness out of an 07 or up S197.

The only difference between the 500 and the 1000 is the trunk
mounted subs and amps. I dont think the shaker 500 is configured
for the amps in the trunk. The 500 will need module configuration
to think it is a 1000 and put out sound to the rear amps.
What ever shaker you use, it needs to be configured with the 'as built data' for your VIN # for it to operate properly.
If your 1000 is crapping out, what makes you think another
replacement shaker wont just crap out as well?
