LT's will give you better gains, but Shorties are not a waste by any means.

I'm doing shorties just because I do not want the hassle of installing longtubes, the emissions testing in MA, and because I don't have over a grand to blow on headers and a mid-pipe. That being said, I am going to get the JBA shorties. OP, take a look at this thread: https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...-question.html
We already have 4 or 5 people that want JBA headers so we are hoping to get a group buy going.

+1 JBA's ive heard alot of great things about them. I just ordered the shorty's from late model restoration for $424 +shipping and a MagnaFlow high flow catted x pipe from completeexhaust.com $449 w/free shipping to go with my stingers. i got the last set of JBA's from the website be4 they went on back order haha. i should instal them thursday or on the 23rd ill post up some vids.

I am sorry, I should have phrased it better. If you can install LTs go for them instead of the shorties is what I should have said. Your limitations and choice well respected.

I went with the BBK's and love them, plus you will feel a hp increase no matter what people say. Its proven for half the cost of LT's and half the money its worth it. My two friends have the FRPP cams,Pullies,CAI, X Pipe,Lt's and their @ 350 to the wheels and they have me by about 12 hp,but not on torque,I'm right with them. Short tubes will give you more low end torque. Don't let people tell you shorties are a waste of time without trying them. Jba's are great headers but look at the BBK's also.

i only gained 9rwhp without the nitrous with an o/r x longtube setup from ARH... not saying shorties won't gain you anything but i don't see how you can feel such a small amount increase in hp in a car already pushing around 280-300hp depending on your mods which is only a 3% increase in hp if you have 300rwhp... and that was with my o/r longtubes.

i see this as more of a mod to change the sound much more than it is a hp mod. i understand the emissions reason as to why people have to go with shorties instead of longtubes since i'm in california as well, but just don't expect crazy gains if youre not FI.
