Shifter assembly, HELP
A rod from my shifter linkage broke. Even though I have the MGW, it still uses the factory linkage. It is a black bar with two studs on each end, I've tried to drill and tap and die it, but it just wont work and no machine shop will do it. (went to 3 different one's today) Ford wont sell it separately and I would have to buy the whole factory shifter for 360 bucks!! I've searched junk yards and online and have found zero. Does anyone know where I can get one of these??
You can try New Take Off, call them and ask them if that parts included with their oe take off shifter. http://www.newtakeoff.com/mustang_gt...nsmission.aspx
Why won't tapping it work?

I tried to drill a hole for tapping but it would hardly make a dent.
I see. New Take Off list it as a complete assembly and the also sell take off transmissions so hopefully they have what you need. I won't adjust the throw on my MGW anymore because I feared I'd break the same thing you did.
Send it to me and I can either drill & tap it for you on the Bridgeport
or make you a beefier new one that will stand the test of time.
There are sellers who are parting out S197 GTs on eBay.
Here is just one of them....
