Default Looking for high temperature paint recommendations

Hi All,

I'm looking for some recommendations for high temperature paint. It needs to fit the following criteria...

- must be shootable through a handheld airbrush (Paasche double action) and must behave well for detail oriented custom airbrush art. We are not looking for spray can high temperature paint.
- must withstand at least valve cover heat, probably header heat (definately will be doing valve covers, probably doing the headers as well).
- would be nice if it would also bond normally / work well on plastic and other surfaces as we will be doing components like fuse box lid, battery cover, etc. I'd rather not have to use a different paint on those components.
- must come in a wide variety of colors and also must have an available high temperature clear coat.
- must not need any special curing.

Thanks a ton in advance for any direction given, It is definately appreciated!

off topic, but no one in there has an iq over 15. theyll probably suggest a pack of crayolas for your job. hope you get it figured out.

Thanks for the vote of confidence siebieriean.mist.
You just dropped a rung on the ladder list.
I always thought crayolas only came 8 to a pack.
Then I was introduced to the 64 pack and I pee'ed my pants.
MossMuscle sells high temp caliper paint that you
can shoot all day long thru whatever you want. I didnt know
that higher temp durability was linked to the viscosity of the
paint. Thats a new one for me.
www.mustangsunlimited.com also sells high temp
caliper paint as well as high temp engine paint.

Contact NASA for obtaining the paint you need with all the criteria you listed above....

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is it off topic? It is specifically to paint 2007 Mustang components. It has to stick to the magnesium valve covers that are used in the 2005+ Mustangs, plus various plastic components such as radiator cover, fuse box cover, etc.

I almost put it into General Tech, but because of the valve covers specifically being magnesium I figured 2005-2010 would be a better pick.

Off topic doesn't make much sense... it would be like asking in Off Topic what type of tires to get, what type of oil to use, or what octane of gas to use for the track.

Thanks 157db, that's exactly what i'm looking for, just not quite enough colors (on the engine paint at least, tons of caliper colors... go figure) and no clear from the looks of it

I have no idea if the viscosity is any different or not (didn't mean to insinuate it was), I have only managed to find spray can high temperature paint in any wide variety of color though. Shooting high temperature paint doesn't seem to be as popular I guess.

Mustangs Unlimited seems to have a wider variety of colors that may indeed fit the bill... Thanks 157db!

I think sub.misty was thinking of the APPEARANCE section that
has members with an IQ of over 15.
Lets see if you can list the 64 colors available, sub.misfitis....
