Question MOTOR MOUNT QUESTION ??

I read somewhere that the stock motor mounts allows the engine to move about 1/2" and that they should be upgraded. Is this a problem for anyone? What would be the advantage of upgrading your motor mounts? Bottom line I guess is it even worth the hassle?

the stock motor mounts do allow the motor to move slightly. i personally replaced mine when i installed my LT headers. im not sure if it would really be worth it just to install motor mounts by themselves. i can tell now that the motor is pretty much solid in there and if you pay close attention you can see the whole car kind of flex instead of the motor.

+1 on the solidness.

Plus I installed lowering mounts so that I could keep my hood liner in place and close it normally without resistance of the hood rubbing on the Saleen SC.

OK What are lowering mounts? and besides more hood clearance why would they be a good install choice?

They are Prothane mounts that have the billett piece ground down to sit the engine a little lower.

Steeda makes them with two sets of different durometer bushings.

Yes, those are the Prothanes, but they are not the "lowered" Prothanes. I don't know which ones he's looking for...

Man after reading some of the links about mounts I realize there is a lot more to this. I guess I'll be doing a little more research on this. The one from Moss $$ I think I would probable go w/ the lowering type because I have a "Strange Shock Tower Sway Bar" that rubs the hood liner.
