Default FRPP 4.10 - install now?

Well I took advantage of the great deal on buyfordracing and got a ring and pinion shipped for $150.

The situation is such that I might be able to scrape up the money to get them installed sometime next month. However I cannot afford to buy new tires. Is this something I should put off until I get the money for tires? I have 3.55 and stock pirellis ATM. If it's gonna make the car uncontrollable on me then I'm kind of inclined to wait..

I dont think your gonna have too many issues. I would just keep it eay if tyou feel like your going to break the tires loose. Start in 2nd gear. Nothing is uncontrollable.

If I have to launch the car in 2nd because 1st is unable to maintain any traction then I'll wait for tires.

Launching the car right now with the 3.55 I have to slip out the clutch which is fine. But once it grabs I have no problems after that. If this means that now I have to feather the throttle in 2nd then that's another reason to pass on it for now.

With the car as-is I can usually hold 3000 and then slip out the clutch from a dig. Once the clutch is out all the way right pedal goes to the floor. Very little wheel spin when I manage the launch this way assuming I don't screw up.

If the 4.10 makes it so I spin no matter what in first gear and I end up having to feather the throttle through all of 1st gear then screw that. I'll definitely be waiting for tires then.

Friend with stock wheels & tires just switched to 4.10 gear & have no major traction issues. He has 30k on the tires.

ok wait I was confused. If your gonna be doing a lot of aggressive driving or racing the get the tires. If your just worrying about daily use, then do the gears. Check out this video of me at the track. 4.10's at WOT with 295 tires. Brand new. Still chirps and can break loose in 1st if I dont work the clutch right.

Are you going to be dumping the clutch from every stop??? Probably not. Have no fear, install the gears. Wheelspin is fun anyway, no?

You won't have a problem under normal driving. Sure, if you nail the throttle in 1st the tires are going to light but not like it's uncontrollable.

It's going to be a lot of fun and a learning experience with the manual trans. I've had gears this steep in auto's but never in a manual trans. Sometimes I feel like I'm on the bike going thru the gears. Or I skip a few here and there.
