Is anyone moderating these posts? I'd have deleted several, just for the bad advice.

Any mods you do that involve unbolting anything can potentially come back to haunt you. You think a new grill is no big thing? What about when your foglight suddenly goes out and the Ford service techs see an aftermarket harness?

Anyone who encourages you to modify a new car won't have to pay for the non-warrantied repairs. You will. Stick to simple mods until you are off warranty or at least through 2 of the 3 years. Had I done the whole CAI tune thing on my new Mustang in 2005 I would have been out over $10,000 for the new engine my car got after just 5 months!
They don't have to prove that your mods caused the problem in order to deny any warrantied claim! You'll have to fight them to prove it didn't, which will take a long, long time!

If it is your desire to trick out your Mustang don't buy a brand new one with a 3 year factory warranty. Save the money and buy used.

Like anyone said, anything you can take off quickly such as a intake, exhaust, or some visual mods.

For me, I am pretty much screwed cause of what I did to the car (new trans, still OE though - TR6060) and Edelbrock SC. So the PCM, engine, and trans are off the list. Not to mention the exhaust system itself. Really the only thing covered right now is the the interior of the car and maybe some exterior parts. Thats why I sold back my warranty :P

The point is - you need to pay to play, and plus take risks. This is my DD, not just some track car, or even drag car. I just hope it doesn't bite me in the butt :P

So if you just mod the engine they can just void that part of it and everything else would be covered?

Yes, however they can also "claim" that the part caused the other part to fail.

The main problem with the warranty is they do not have to "prove" anything. They will have your vehicle and if they decline coverage you have to pay for all work done before they release it to you. This can amount to a very large bill. If you do not like their reason, it is up to you to take them to court ,possibly another large amount of money. Any major repairs go through Ford and not the dealer.Believe me, Ford is not going to any major repairs without a thourough inspection (at your cost i might add).

Well I talked to a ford racing performance parts dealership and if they do all the work then it doesn't void anything. He told me that if I just do an intake and exhaust with no tune I will be ok though. I think that's what I'm doing because they wanted $1300 for a CAI, tune and axel back exhaust.
