Default oil change?

Any recommendations on what particular oil to use on a GT with ~16K miles?

Normal, Synthetic?

BTW, if there is a oil change thread already, please provide a link. Tried searching, however the word oil is too short to search, go figure. =/

Edit: While posting this thread, a ad appeared for Royal Purple. I heard a few talk of this as well. I believe i remember hearing it's pricey, but is a like nice performance grade oil, not absolutely necessary on a daily driver, and i also believe i had read that like it's not a Ford approved oil because of some ingredients or something, and that like Ford dealers wouldn't do the change, or wouldn't warranty the car or something I believe.

You really like to start a major debate, don't you? This is ALWAYS a highly debated issue. The only problem doing a search on this issue is that you'll find about 2 years worth of hits to read.

Our Stangs come with synthetic blend from the factory with recommended oil change frequency of 7500 miles (that's in that odd rectangle thing made of paper in your glovebox). ANY name brand blend or full synthetic (if you want to extend your oil change frequency) along with most any filter (besides most Fram) will provide the same protection when changed at an appropriate frequency.

Try searching for . . .

oil*

with the asterisk. The asterisk is a wildcard that will keep the search function's minimum character count happy and still find 3-character matches because a blank space is still a match for the 4th character.

Happy reading through 500 hits.

The Scheduled Maintenance Guide that came with my car says that oil is to be changed every 5000 miles or six months, whichever occurs first, for normal service. For special operating conditions, the change interval is every 3000 miles or three months or 200 hours of engine operation, whichever occurs first.
