Default Car Computer?

Well, I can't see paying $1000-$1500 for a GPS/DVD Player. Is there any cheaper alternatives that basically makes the unit a computer as well? I've been searching all over the internet and I guess my search inquiries suck because I can't find anything relative at all except people at home making their own setups.

Would be nice to have such a unit that fits in the stock space, has touchscreen, gps, dvd, and doesn't require any motorized part to flip it up and out of its space.

Are you talking about double din screens? They sit flush where your radio used to be. You can get them for under $1k. Probably around $600 for a nice one.

I don't know anything about this, but yes... Something that fits flush. One that has the most screen exposure, meaning not something with 1/4 of the screen with buttons/*****.

Kenwood makes alot of what you're looking for, with 7'' screens and sit flush as well. The only thing you have to deal with is that ungodly view of opening that aftermarket navis leave. If that doesn't bother you then there ya go. I don't use all of the features on the aftermarket navis so I'm ok with the factory one from Ford.

Kenwood's fit in the "over priced $1000-$2000 DVD/GPS" systems that I am trying to avoid.
