Default EFI into Carb

Ever sense my engine swap in my 95 GT my car's been running kinda rough. It has deadspots and it lags when I throw my foot down, the rpm spikes with i put the clutch in, and instead of steadily going up in rpm it jitters it's way up (if that makes any sense).

I'm 99% sure this is computer related, and most of these problems were there when I got the car with the old engine. The guy before me says the computer is tuned for a "big cam", But i'm not quit sure what to think.

So heres the deal, I either go 100 miles and get a custom tune for $500 some dollars, or finish a carb my dad has laying around. He says all he has is the top part, I guess that being the filter.

Anyone know a good carb set up for street/strip?

my mods are: gt40p heads and tfs stage 1 cam with a stock bore and fresh rings and bearings and all that.

I'm losing races against N/A hondas and it sucks, this car needs fixed.

Depending upon the emissions regulations where you are located you might not be able to go carb. I know in Indiana and North Carolina if the vehicle came stock with EFI it has to stay EFI in order to pass emissions. And if you dont really have any parts for the carb setup your probably going to spend close to $500 when its all said and done anyways to go to carb.

After 20 years your car is considered a classic and you can forgo the whole inspection thing if you title and insure your car as a classic. There is a lot more to swapping to carb then just throwing a carb on. You'll need intake, carb, throttle linkage, old style distributor, you'll need to rewire and remove the old EFI wiring. Not as simple as it sounds.

I live in Kansas, basically no emission laws what so ever so that wouldn't be a problem.
