Wish I could help but I haven't experienced an issue concerning my battery or my alternator (knock on wood). However, I'd search a thread called "The dreaded dead battery" or something along those lines..

Like a lot of others my battery went out. I had mine stored from November to April. It started right up the first time in April but the second time mine did the same as your. I jumped it and went and bought a Deltran Battery Tender Plus and all is well now.

If you haven't replaced the factory battery then it's time. The Motorcraft batteries are generally crap. It's also possible your alternator isn't charging but from what you described your battery is toast. Get your car somewhere that can test the entire charging system. I'll bet it's just your battery.

Ahhhh. You didn't mention it was a new battery. Still, have the system checked. If the alternator is shot (which it now sounds like it is), then it won't maintain the charge on the battery, no matter what battery you put in.

is your warranty up ? It's covered by the warranty if you are still under it. I had a check engine light on mine a while ago, and after some days spent at the dealership, they founf that the alternator was shooting whacky waves which triggered the light. anyways, if you still have the warranty ( which sounds like you don't since you went to autozone, but worth a try ) it should be free.

Do this.

To test the alt. start the car.
While running unplugg the negative cable.

If the car shut down, the alt. is dead.

On a side note, have you noticed any moisture on the inside of the car, collecting on the windshield or windows.
This sounds like the symptoms for the water leak issue.

If the alt trick doesn't prove correct, flood your car with water on the winshield where the cowling is. Check the floor boards of the passenger side, feel up under the kick panel for moisture.
