Default Throttle position max?

Got a matco pro scan plus with datastream. Trying it out while driving and the minimum throttle position got to 14% and the maximum got to 77%. Shouldn't the max be 100%? It's a 2006 V6

Have you performed the throttle reset procedure yet? That's what tells the PCM where 0% and 100% are.

actually after thinking about this, my friends honda prelude wouldn't get to max throttle because his manifold ate some electrical tape... his RPMs were all over the place too..

You should go read the thread about all the hidden/fun things with S197 mustangs, its got alot of cool information, such as the throttle reset:

Recalibrating your Throttle
Recalibrating the throttle by turning the key in the on position and pressing down to the floor ( total 3 seconds ) then release for 3 seconds.
1- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine(dashboard lights come on and chime sounds).
2- After the chime stops, smoothly depress the gas pedal to the floor while counting 1001-1002-1003.
3- Release the gas pedal using the same procedure in 2.
4- Wait 6 seconds, and turn the ignition to OFF. If you have a tune it wont make much difference at this point.....keep the tips and procedures coming guys! Your throttle response is reset.

This was copied from ResQman's summary in the thread.

https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...stangs-22.html

You could read through all 23 pages, but its really summed up on page 22 in that one post.

If you have a tune maybe try re-flashing it?

Seems to me that any tune, whether it's Ford's OE, FRPP, or any other aftermarket or custom tune still needs to know where the 0% and 100% points are . . .

Not completely sure but I believe TPS measures commanded throttle body opening via output based on a host of variables so 77% may be valid. I don't believe if you mash the pedal to the floor the throttle body opens up to the max flow like the old quadrajets did.
LOL, we shall see who still remembers those old setups
