Here's a couple of cheap and simple additions I made to the dash: [Sorry for the blurry pic!]
1. Clock. I needed a clock I could see without having to take my eyes off the road to look at the stereo. I went with this analogue clock with a black face to match the gauges in the dash. The casing is solid aluminum and the movement is made by Citizen. Available from AutoSport.com:

2. Electrical plug cover. Turned from a solid piece of aluminum. It's a heavy, high quality product. Available in many styles and colors on Ebay.
I think these draw the attention of the eye away from the wide expanse of cheap plastic on the dash. What do you think?

You must be quick at reading analog because the increased thinking time for me would far outweight the increased time t look a little bit further down to read the time.
That being said, it looks cool. Thought it might have been a compass at first.

This raises an interesting thing about time. Usually you are not interested in precisely what time it is, but how much time you have before something--such as how much time before you are supposed to be somewhere. So when you look at a digital clock, your mind goes through a conversion process to translate the current time to how much time you have to get somewhere. When you look at an analog clock, you just give it a glance and can tell you have 15-20 minutes to get somewhere. The precise current time is not important in many cases, and a digital clock actually slows the thought process.
