Reliability

I bought my 05 about 18 months ago from a young lady who was expecting her first child and needed something more baby appropriate. She loved that car and had a full service warranty on it. She sold it to me at 75k when said warranty expired. I got copies of every service that was done on it. The only repair it needed was a factory recall for the fuel tank. It now has 78.5k and still no problems. Hard to beat that record... I love working on it and it is a blast to drive. It just seems to attract ***** in Japanese tuner cars who want to go to jail. Street racers **** me off big time! Funny, they NEVER bother me when I'm riding my 04 Yamaha R1.
So, I say get one if it's what you want. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I only have about 8k miles in almost three years. The only warranty work was a replacement battery.
As to the fuel problem--Part of that may be the difficulty that is sometimes encountered when trying to refuel. The gas station's fuel nozzle sometimes kicks off many times before the car's gas tank is actually full. Two days ago I was between 1/4 and 1/2 full. I gave up after adding four gallons, because I was in a bit of a hurry, and the nozzle was kicking off about every ten seconds. Yesterday I went to a different station and added nine gallons (full tank) with no issues.

Another issue I have heard of, but have not experienced--If you take a long run on the highway, sometimes the car hesitates when you leave the highway and drive at city speeds. I think this is a fuel pump thing.

It's a Ford... You get what you pay for. If you want quality and reliability, buy a Toyota or Honda.
Reliability means different things to each person. I think reliability begins to show itself after 150,000 - 200,000 miles. If my DD can't hit that without seeing the shop for anything other than preventive maintenance, it's not a very reliable car. Six Toyotas and a host of domestics have proven that to me.

There's a TSB for this (I think it's called "hesitation after long cruise"). I had it done and have never had an issue since.
As for Nuke's comment that you should get a Toyota or a Honda, I have no idea what he's talking about. I've owned 5 Fords in 20 years (2 Broncos, 2 Mustang GTs, and a Saleen). All have gone well over 100k with no issues (except the Saleen, which only has 20k miles). My wife's Durango also hit 100k miles with only two repairs. Change your oil and take care of regularly scheduled maintenance and you should be fine.
And never let your car overheat -- once that happens, some of your seals may go bad. Once that happens, you'll have oil leaks, etc. for the rest of your car's life...
