Ok... just got word from our man inside that the plant is shutting down for the FIRST two weeks of July. I'm worried. My car is supposed to be born THIS WEEK! I emailed him back and ask a question I believe I know the answer to already.... "If my car gets built but not out the door by COB Friday - does that mean it will sit there until the 18th at the earliest and I likely won't get it until August?" I think I'm going to puke...

Anybody else in this boat? Anybody have better info or an answer?

This balances with what I was told when I ordered my '06 two weeks ago. My dealer told me then that this week would be the last week of production for '05. Interestingly enough, he also told me that Job 1 for '06 would be August 8. I wonder, based on what you said, if the retooling shutdown will be shorter than originally planned, i.e. will they start building before 8/8.

Apparently since the only real changes are color and a few cosmetics - they won't "re-tool" and that's why they are shutting down now and starting '06's on 8/8. There is another guy on here with an '05 build date of 7/25. If I get a chance, I'll ask about that...

 

Wldstng05, I'm in the same boat as you.. It would figure that when our build week comes around its right around this scheduled plant shutdown. Everything that I have read or heard basically confirms that if your car does not get out the door then you are screwed.

I was given a build date of July 14th, told it should be here 7-10 days later. Have a silver vert GT on order since may 20, got serial number mid june

We have the exact same lock date.

 

I can only speak to what I've learned from this forum and blueoval (and watching my schedule to date). The guy at the plant said they were shutting down production the first two weeks of July. Build dates (until locked) are always a Monday and mean they are currently scheduled to be built that week - not necessarily that day - but it could. It seems normally that the blend date is 7 days from build - but I've seen 6 and 8 - so it's not a given. In your case, the 14th is a Thursday during shutdown... I'll be curious to see how it comes out.... Post your VIN to Kzinti's attention on the blueovalforums.com and ask him for info. He'll give you what's in the plant computers.

just to give you some real insight on this "shut down"......all automotive industries do this..
they have to AS-9000,and all your freindly qaulity agency's require this....they have to do inventory sometime!..
about your car....it will either sit until the 18th or once it's accounted for they could finish it,and ship it...trust me i hate shut downs too
i got two weeks off also............. to hopefully get my car painted.......doing it myself...

 

Oh geez... great. Well, maybe I'll get really luck and it will actually get built tomorrow or Wednesday and out of the plant before COB Friday. I have noticed quite a few lately that were shipped the same day as they were built. My guess is just like every other place that does inventory - they want to reduce as much as possible. I'm perfectly willing to take them a check and pick it up if it's "done".
