Default Shifter feels like butter 2-3

Alright guys I installed a used hurst STS on my car about a month or so ago. Shifter has been great except for a few times when I had a problem. It was after a night of racing and when shifting from 2-3, the shifter felt like butter (really flimsy) and did not want to go into 3rd. I was slamming it to try and make it go into place, and still wouldn’t. It felt like the shifter arm was about to break . I shift pretty good but the damn shifter didn’t want to cooperate! Any clues/tips on how to make this stop? I definitely don't want to mess up a race b/c of it.

Try replacing the front hurst bushing with the stock ford one, alot of people on here seem to be doing that, and I have had no problems at all with mine..

You mean a lot of people are having those problems, then fixing it by putting the stock bushing?

I have the Hurst sts as well. I have been running it for a few months or so. Have you checked the two screws that connect the handle to the shifter? Those used to come loose on me all the time until I locktite'd them in place. If that is good then you will want to get under the car and confirm that no other mouting hardware is loose... i.e. the two 10mm bolts in the rear, and the front 10mm in the transmission housing.

Actually they were coming loose before. I used loctite on them recently and some of the problems stopped. I will check under the car to make sure all bolts are properly.
