The pic is of just the remote controls. The detector would still have to be mounted somewhere. LostSoul has the right idea of cutting a gap in the front.

The dots/tinting will not make a difference. I have experience with radar and it will go right through that. It is not metallic enough to deflect and not the right material to absorb it and keep it from getting through. As for electronics around the detector causing interference.... maybe, it depends on the quality of the components inside the detector. My guess is, it will still act like there is nothing there and detect as good as of you were holding it out the window.
