Default BBK Cold Air Question???

Hey guys, I am thinking of switching from my K&N cold air on my 05 gt to the bbk cold air kit, I have the car tuned with a sct tuner (done by MRT). Is my tune gonna need to be adjusted if I make this switch? Will it throw the car in "failsafe mode"? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BBK advertises their intake as a no-tune intake, but the truth is most people end up throwing a code from it (running too lean). If you're going to switch to the BBK, then you'll need to get a tune specifically for the BBK, otherwise, you run a good risk of going into limp home mode. I think it's actually a quality intake, they just shouldn't advertise it as a no-tune intake.

I would think that since you already have a tune for an intake that you'll be fine. There really isn't any difference in flow between different brands of intakes so i wouldnt think it matters.

the K&N does not require a tune either so i dont think he has a tune for a CAI.
get JLT it is cheaper than BBK and gets more HP/tq and is easier to install.

get JLT and a tune its better.

I ran mine for months with no tune, and not one single problem ...ever! FYI.

I am doing a little research on these CAI that claim that they don't require a tune. They are Granatelli, BBK and JLT. Granatelli claims +40 HP. Can anyone help me out with any further info? Can these CAI's damage your engine ? Do you have to remove it to get any warranty work done? Am I better off getting one that requires a new tune? TIA

JR

K&N doesn't require a tune either but you get the most out of the CAI with one IMO. Mike why the BBK?....save the cash and *** a shot of NOS!!!!!! JMO but stick with the K&N unless your upgrading to FI, NOS, etc

He said he has a tune from MRT.

Never have I seen any proof that one intake is truly better than the next. Certainly never heard of the JLT giving more power. Otherwise I would have bought it. As for install, the BBK took maybe 10 minutes and a screwdriver.

Yes the reason I am concerned as it states in the BBK instructions, is that it requires no tune, but tune may need to be modified if already tuned, But like Penny said, i have had a K&N on the car and it is tuned for a cold air already, just nervous to switch them up and be without a car for a big car weekend (but want it on to show it off..lol) And guys I already have the BBK, not thinking about buying it. It is in my living room? But I just wanna make sure it doesnt go into "limp mode" I would die........ Any other advice guys? Thx so much
