05/06 GT or 96 LT1 Vette
A buddy of mine has an order in for a loaded 05 or 06 GT auto (dealer thinks it will be an 06 and arrive in oct). However he's been eyeing a 1996 Corvette LT1 auto with 38k orig miles, 1 owner, really nice shape. They are asking 18k for it, Im thinking he can get them down to the 16 range. The GT will come to 29k but will depreciate much quicker than the vette. As for power, they seem to be pretty close. We both have only driven a GT so we can't really make a fair comparison as to which is faster.
So which is the better buy and bang for the buck? Any C4 vette owners here, please give us your opinion. Thanks.

I think the Vette (especially a 10 year old one) would be a "hey, look at me" kind of car where the owner is more worried about what others think about them, where Mustang owners are driving their car to impress mostly/only themselves. Just my humble opinion.

I had a 94 LT1.... it was a piece of CRAP! for every week I drove it - it spend a day in the shop! Never the same thing, so I couldn't get GM to take the car back under the Lemon law... I drove it for a year and a half and took an $11,000 hit when I traded it in. That was the end of my driving GM's.

i traded a 98 C5 vette for my V6 convertible. the C5 is a lot mor car that the 96 C4 corvette.
the 98 was my 7th corvette and i don't miss it for a minute. 96 vettes are not worth more than $9 or 10K and are all over the place.
