Default Reasonably Priced Custom Subwoofer Enclosure from Audio Integrations.

This may be old news to some of you...

I found this company called Audio Integrations online that makes a subwoofer enclosure for a 12" sub that tucks into the passenger side of the S197 trunk.

If you are like me and want a lot of bass but don't want to lose your trunk space, the JL Audio Stealthbox was looking awesome but I couldn't spend $1000 on just a box and sub.

Well Audio Integrations makes this box that is $349 with no sub.

I can tell you from experience, making your own fiberglass enclosure, if you haven't done it before, is a huge itchy mess unless you know what you are doing. I attempted to do it and failed miserably and spent a lot of money. If I started over with my experience, I could do it right if I tried again, but I don't have the time to do so.

This sub box looks like a smokin' deal.

I just ordered one last night and will update once received.

UPDATE 7/24/2009

I got the enclosure installed.

Fits great, fits securely and sounds wonderful.

yeah I am about to undertake the fiberglass enclosure project. I would be all over this if the box were ported. Very good find though.

I just went about it the wrong way. I would definitely make sure you get some of those aluminum fiberglass rollers. And I wouldn't buy the fiberglass resin at Home Depot and Lowes. The fiberglass Matte they carry is fine, but is overpriced vs buying in bulk online. I was using home depot/ lowes fiberglass resin with horrible results. Then I found http://www.uscomposites.com/ and they carried rolls of fiberglass matte, aluminum rollers and excellent resin. Unfortunately it was a little to late for my project. I would highly recommend you order your supplies from them.

I listen to about 80% metal&rock (soilwork, unearth, AC/dc, etc) and about 20% country/rap/whatever....so a sealed box is best for me.

While you tried this project did you come across any really good DIY stuff? I know there is a lot of them around but most seem par at best. I have toyed with the idea of making a mold so it would be easier to work with the fiberglass and everything rather then doing it all in the trunk. What route did you go?

I searched several DIYs...but still managed to eff up here and there.

I made a mold of the inside of the trunk first.

Then I pulled it out and continued to add layers.

I can not stress enough how important the rollers are especially in molding stage. Gravity wants to pull the fiberglass down and the rollers help you mash it on the resin.

Thanks for the heads up with the rollers. I will have to invest in some when I finish picking up the supplies.

Reasonably priced considering it will be the last subwoofer you will need to buy.
B U L L E T P R O O F and L O U D!
Why buy and rebuy and rebuy when you can purchase once and be done with it?
Been there and done that with cheap gear. Still have the 1980 A-60 Pioneer and
its works just like new and I am hard ao audio gear. 157db (thats loud)
