Default Summer tires in winter?

I have a couple Invo and NT05 for my car that are on the way.

What are the implications of taking the car out with these tires on during the winter? Assume cold, cold pavement. NO SNOW OR ICE.

Will this damage the tread on the tires or wear the hell out of them? I only drive the car enough to keep it driven during the real cold part of winter.

I'll be finding out how the INVO do in the winter this year since my car is my DD.

i tested the falken 452s last february, in the summer they are sticky as can be, in -10 it feels like your driving on oil. not recommended.

The tread will be as hard as a rock and will respond (or I should say, NOT respond) accordingly. You'll have to be very conscious of every move you make.

Thanks I guess I'll just have to leave TC on and drive slowly and carefully. I don't exactly hot rod the car much in the winter anyway. You guys know how it is. It SUCKS. The car sits in the garage and I just take it out maybe once a month when the roads are clear just to keep it driven.

If you can I'd get a spare set of wheels and mount some cheap tires on there for the winter.

They will be slick as hell and you will shorten the life of the tire significantly. Most summer tires are rated at 40+ degrees. I bought a new set of tires/rims for under 700 to use in the winter only. You would be very wise to do the same

I had a 3500$ accident last winter driving on all-season tires. I also thought the weather would be ok but it started to snow when I was 100 miles away from home. The road looked dry but I spun out on a black ice... Lucky all I hit was a curb and I was going only 30mph...

After 36 years of driving experience in the north, I wouldn't drive a Stang in the snow unless I HAD to AND had dedicated winter tires installed. You might luck out the first few times but you're gonna get bit sometime. And it simply isn't worth the risk, considering how we treasure our cars.
