Convertable Question
I am a new mustang owner as well as member to the forum and I am interested in any comments regarding my new 2010 Mustang convertable. After having the car for several days, I noticed that a square piece of black sheet plastic was attached to the stowed right side of the convertable top. It had a sticky side which I discovered belonged inside the arm stowage opening. It had been glued onto the styrofoam insulation attached to the inside rear passanger wall ...... evidently some type of scuff plate to stop the convertable arm from chewing up the styrofoam as it dropped into the open position. Instead, it chewed up the plastic and pulled it out. The left side is still in place, but was wondering if anyone else has heard of this problem. It seems that replacing it will only be a problem waiting to happen again and I don't want the car ripped apart to come up with a fix. My son says just leave it alone ....... I feel that it should be replaced. Still have to get to the dealership to show a tech. This one is toast ............ Bent all up.
Saw a 2009 with the top down and checked it out. Both sides were missing and the styrofoam was the only thing showing. I bet that all these scuff plates are dropping into the fender after awhile and no one even knows it. The only reason that I knew was that it was pulled up with the top, not droppng into the fender!
