Why on earth would you rev an engine without a load on it? Unless you are reving up to get a good luach there is NO reason to do this. It's not praticularly good for it. And yes there is a rev limiter that cuts in at a lower rpm when the car is in neutral. It's there for a good reason too.
Yes, I realize that it's not particularly good for the car, which is why I was very hesitant to do it. However, I noticed the strange sounds in the exhaust so I happened to notice the limiter while investigating that.

I just wanted to make sure it was a limiter and not something wrong with my vehicle, that's all.
