Default Ok got my Touch-Up Paint from Motorcraft (Ford)

Door says D3

Bottle says D3

Window Sticker says Torch Red

All documentation says Colorado Red

Now obviously I believe the code (D3) -- But why the difference in the name?

EDIT: Modifying signature

Ford (and other car makers) have in the past used different names for the same color on different brands of cars (Ford vs. Mercury) and even between different vehicles within the same brand, or different names in different years. As long as the code matches, you should be golden.

What documentation states Colorado Red? The touchup paint? Sometimes they have a different name on the bottle, if it's a color for multiple platforms.

D3 is the color code for Torch Red, so unless the bottle is labeled wrong it should be the right color.

The workshop manual for 2007 says D3 is Colorado Red. Torch Red is not listed as an available color. Maybe they just changed the name, but kept the color the same. What the %#!* is "Colorado" red?

The code should be correct. The white HP code on our cars is commonly referred to as Performance White, but it is really High Performance White. Regular Performance White is WP code.

This is why paint should be ordered by code, not by name.

For years, GM had a Code 10 white paint. Depending on the brand or year, it was called several different colors.

Wouldn't be the first time the shop manual was wrong. I can point out several inaccuracies with my 06 shop manual. Maybe that's why they all end up on Ebay!

The 2007 brochure listed it as Torch Red, no mention of Colorado.

True that! I know any time I've had paint work done, the painter wants the code. He could care less what the name is!

I came across the same thing, D3 is correct for our "Torch Red" cars.

as long as the door code & touch up bottle code match, you'll be fine

I understand the fact that you should use the code for any item. Just seems weird that all references I see say Colorado Red. Yet the sticker says Torch.

My 1999 Vette was Torch Red. I would sware this is the exact color. It even has that "orange" hue in certain light like my Vette did.

For the record I traded the Vette for a Stroller.
