Traditional Shifter on S197 with 6 Speed

Call me crazy...

But I could have sworn I had once read an article saying that when you put "X" 6 speed manual in the s197, you can use a traditional 6 speed shifter that bolts right onto the tranny. None of this remote shifter stuff.

Does anybody have a clue as to what I am talking about? I would really like to know.

I would think you would still need a remote shifter because of how far forward the trans is. Not sure if you have been under there but right under the shifter is the driveshaft.

Unless the 6 spd is longer, which I believe it is, avengence is right...

I did read this before I bought my mustang back in 06....but yes I installed my MGW so I am aware.

I vaguely remember something about the transmission being much longer and a standard shifter could be used.

I wish I could find this article again to see if I am crazy or not. I want to say it had something to do with a Saleen package.
